Inspire is an all-island charity and social enterprise working together with people living with mental ill health, intellectual disability, autism and addictions across Ireland, to ensure they live with dignity and realise their full potential. Every life lost to suicide is a tragedy, and Samaritans’ vision is that fewer people die by suicide. We believe that suicide is preventable.

Samaritans of Newry provide a free telephone helpline for people who are in crisis or are having difficulty coping, particularly people who are isolated, alone and at risk of poor mental health and wellbeing. Our aim is to help them avoid reaching crisis point and thus reduce the number of people who die by suicide. Samaritans provide a listening ear and allow callers to explore their feelings in a safe, non judgemental environment. Giving people time, undivided attention and empathy meets a fundamental emotional need and can reduce stress and despair.
