The Well Hub

The Well Hub is a community wellness hub which provides a range of services to support mental health and emotional wellbeing in the Kilkeel area. In providing crisis support, we use our skills and experience to respond to an individual or organisation within our community during times of need, in relation to thoughts or plans of suicide, or a death by suicide. It is hoped that this ideally placed hub will ensure a safe, welcoming environment where conversations around suicide and mental health are encouraged out into the open and result in positive changes and a thriving community.

Suicide Down to Zero

Suicide Down to Zero was set up in 2014 and its work is carried out entirely by volunteers and was recognized as a charity in May 2015. We have a Board made up of 7 people (survivors, suicide prevention activists and those with a professional background in helping) bringing together a wealth of knowledge, skills & experience alongside specific beliefs about suicide and its prevention. We believe that the only acceptable target for suicide deaths is zero.

Our work has focused on raising awareness of the potential to prevent suicide and has produced two films and booklets. We provide suicide first aid training (ASIST) and suicide alertness training (safeTALK). If we become aware that someone is in distress we carry out a suicide first aid intervention and connect them to further help if it is needed.
