Electric Ireland has proudly supported Pieta's Darkness Into Light since 2013. Over the past 14 years, Electric Ireland and Pieta have worked together to bring hope to communities, customers and staff across Ireland who have been affected by suicide and self-harm.
As Ireland’s leading energy provider, Electric Ireland understands the importance of bringing communities together. Each year, the walk gives people an opportunity to connect with others in their local area, to show their support for those affected by suicide, and to stand alongside families and communities at home and abroad.
Through this long-term partnership with Pieta, it is our hope that we can continue to support people through difficult times. Pieta's Darkness Into Light allows people to come together, to support one another, and to be reminded that we're brighter together. It reflects the strength that comes from coming together and walking in solidarity with those impacted by suicide.
Over the past 14 years, Electric Ireland's sponsorship of Pieta's Darkness Into Light has helped raise vital funds for Pieta to operate their free of charge life-saving services in suicide prevention, intervention and postvention. This support has contributed to more than 50,000 hours of intervention and bereavement counselling, over 100,000 crisis calls and texts through Pieta’s 24 hour helpline, and ongoing therapy provided through Pieta services each year. Through Pieta's Darkness Into Light, Electric Ireland has also helped raise awareness of suicide and self-harm prevention across Ireland.
