From Darkness Into Light: Why We Walk Together
Ireland has the third highest rate of mental health illness in Europe—a stark reminder of how many people are silently struggling. But in our small corner of the world, we’re stepping up.
Last year, over 150 of us came together before dawn for Darkness Into Light. Some walked for themselves, others for loved ones, and many in memory of someone lost. Every step mattered—and together, we raised over €4,381 for Pieta’s life-saving work.
But more than the money raised, it was the feeling that stayed with us—the connection, the courage, the care.
Our community is something special. We show up for each other. We share stories, support, and yes—sausage blaas too. Even in the dark, there’s warmth. And when we walk together, hope leads the way.
This year, we’re lacing up again. Whether you’re joining us for the first time or coming back, we’d love to have you with us.
Event Details – Walk With Us
🕓 Start Time: 4:15am on Saturday , May 10th
🚶♀️ Route: We’ll start our gentle walk at the Guillemene , led by one of our brilliant stewards. From there, we’ll head toward the Pier Café, cross the road to the footpath, and cross over for a stroll along Love Lane to the doneraile.
🌅 At 4:45am, we’ll gather at the cannon on the Doneraile to watch the sunrise, made even more magical by a live performance from a special guest singer.
🧘♀️ Back at the Guillamene for around 5:30am, we’ll take a moment to pause with a peaceful guided meditation led by Tidal Soul Wellness, followed by warm drinks, sausage blaas, sweet treats, and good chats with great people.
