I'm taking part in Darkness Into Light 2025 on Saturday, 10th May, to raise vital funds for Pieta and people affected by suicide and self-harm.

The blackness in the soul

I'm walking next Sunday morning for Pieta House who supply support to those with suicidal ideation and concerned people around them. 

There is not a family in this country who has not been touched in some way by the bleakness of someone's suicide. 'If only I'd....' becomes the refrain for those left living. Talk is the best way to release the pressure of the stress anxiety and depression  that both occurs before a suicide and after to those still breathing.

I'm walking for my beloved younger brother Kenneth who took his own life in June 2024 a week or two short of his 53rd birthday. He had struggled with mental health issues for decades. I am walking for myself who made a serious suicide attempt in 1991 and thankfully failed. I was lucky. I got help and continue to access that help. I look after myself, my diet and exercise are as important as my social connections, my family life and connection with my inner self.

Be the wise person. Never despair as all life is influx. Things do change - constantly. Above all look to the sunshine, the shadows will fall behind you.
